1953 – The first, still experimental, 3-D television broadcast is made, with Los Angeles ABC affiliate KECA-TV showing an episode of Space Patrol.
1992 – The first day of the LA Riots, ignited after the acquittal of police charges with using excessive force in the beating of Rodney King.  They will continue for three days.
2015 – An MLB record low attendance, zero, is set when the Baltimore Orioles play the Chicago White Sox in an empty stadium due to the Baltimore Riots.
